Posthumous Award goes to MWD Bak

On Friday, March 4, 2016, our own Bob Keiser and the always-beautiful Helen Pedersen-Keiser were honored to attend the First Annual Bark Twain Bash. The Bash – benefiting The Mark Twain House & Museum and Kenway’s Cause, Inc. Animal Rescue – was an evening of celebration of our four-legged friends. The Bark Twain Bash, aptly named for honoring those of the canine persuasion, awarded the Excellence of Service Award to none other than MWD Bak, Andrew’s military working dog while he was stationed in Afghanistan. For those of you who do not know, MWD Bak was killed in action on March 11, 2013 in the Jalrez District of Afghanistan along with Captain Pedersen-Keel. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Rex Schad, 26, of Oklahoma. Bak hailed from Fort Stewart, GA. His handler, US Army Sergeant Marel Molina, survived the attack.

We’d like to thank Renee DiNino from iHeart Radio. The Bark Twain Bash was her clever idea. Cocktails were served, there was a band and dancing, and there was a special guest appearance by B.J. Hollars, author of From The Mouth of Dogs. From The Mouth of Dogs. Get it?
