It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors of APK Charities Corporation announce the immediate creation of a special charitable fund in memory of Captain Andrew Patrick Ross, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne).
“Drew” was killed by an IED (“improvised explosive device”) in Andar, Ghanzi Province, Afghanistan on November 27, 2018. Also killed in the attack were 3 other American heroes:
Army Sgt. 1st Class Eric Michael Emond
1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne)
Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan J. Elchin
26th Special Tactics Squadron
Sgt. Jason M. McClary
Drew, just like “PK”, was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Ironically, Drew and Sgt. Emond were also members of 3rd Special Forces Group, ODA 3126, the same unit in which “PK” served.
All monies donated to the Captain Andrew Patrick Ross Special Charitable Fund will be held by APK Charities Corporation and will be directed to either: (i) other 501(c)(3) non-profit corporations previously selected and approved by the Board of Directors of APK Charities (i.e. Special Forces Charitable Trust; Fisher House, APK Direct Assistance Program, etc) or (ii) will be “donor-directed” according to the request of Stephen Ross, father of Captain Ross to a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation provided that such proposed donor recipients fit within the scope of the mission of APK Charities Corporation. All outgoing donations from the Captain Andrew Patrick Ross Special Charitable Fund must be approved in advance by the Board of Directors of APK Charities Corporation.
