It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors of APK Charities Corporation announce the passing of James A. “Pete” Gill. Pete died on March 6, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

His given name was James, but everyone knew him as “Pete.” He served as CWO2 in the USMC from January 1957- January 1959 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune. Pete went on to become a Captain in the New Haven Police Department where he served for 25 years.

All monies donated to the James A. “Pete” Gill Charitable Fund will be held by APK Charities Corporation and will be directed to the APK Direct Assistance Program (DAP) that provides direct financial assistance and other support services to Connecticut active-duty service members, Veterans and their families of all branches of the US Armed Forces.

APK Charities provides financial support to these individuals or families requiring:

  • Medical emergency relief (e.g. treatment costs, rehabilitation support)
  • Emergency assistance relief (e.g. heat, fuel, housing costs)
  • Hardship assistance (e.g. mortgage, job loss, major medical costs)
